Ugh....I've had my laptop for a month and all hell has broken loose. The upper left corner stopped touching the ground and the keyboard keys started coming off. I literally have plastic panels falling off- I can see the roll cage inside. Then, all the LED's under the screen burned out. Now, as I type, dead pixels are showing up on the LCD. The webcam always records black and white pictures, and the CD-ROM drive doesn't even open. The AC adapter got so hot it melted my linoleum floor in the kitchen. The fingerprint reader always fails, the headphone jack produces static, and the speakers always pop. My Windows Vista install is too bloated and gets errors all the time. I JUST rebooted after a BSOD.
I waited six weeks for this POS to ship. I am NEVER, EVER buying from Lenovo again. STINKPAD SUCKS!!!

serious? if so, whats next?

Did you do a crash test on your lenovo. My bro has a X-40 and it's durable as hell.

PICS OF WHAT?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
pics of the plastic panels with the roll cage, the keys and the dead pixels.

This is unfair. No one ever requests other people with complaints to put up pictures. I'll post up pictures when the rest of them do. Until then, feel free to avoid buying a T61 because they're so self-destructible.

Johny be good.

Alright, jokes aside, I managed to take out the palmrest for investigative purposes and I know why everyone is complaining about the hollowness or the fact that the palmrest can be pressured to move. The fact that the palmrest can flex doesn't mean that the laptop's sturdiness is compromised- just that the palmrest isn't fitting 100% flush with the roll cage. If you push your palmrest in, nothing can be damaged because what the palmrest eventually touches is the rollcage. It's kind of impossible to have the plastic fit completely flush with the rollcage simply because there are only 5 screws to situate the whole thing. We'd need not only screws on the edges of the palmrest, but also the middle areas too- things obviously impossible because the hard drive, expansion slots, and touchpad occupy those areas.
In sum, the palmrest flex isn't a compromise in sturdiness or build quality, it's just a compromise in cosmetics, which IMO is a sacrifice Thinkpad has made since day one. -
So you were joking, right johnny?
-
Hell yes he was joking- just poking a little fun at those of us who claim we were screwed by lenovo. Get it?
-
I'm not poking fun at those who actually were screwed by Lenovo.

Anyone who's joined the party recently, use the search function and you'll find that johnny is indeed kidding. He's one of the few people who consistently says that his T61 is ok (there are actually quite a few satisfied owners, it's just that those who spend most of their time squeezing their bezels are more vocal.)
There will be no pics, please disperse... -
Moderators, please delete this thread--I almost quit reading after the first post and decided to never buy a Thinkpad. Okay, you got me, Johnny... joke's over!
-
Edit: To myself- " And the attitude is making more and more sense now! lol. -
-
This scared the crap out of me, I was like WHAT!!!!!!!!!! I almost called and cancelled my T61p, I didn't laugh, someone should delete this thread, It is going to disrupt the forum.
-
/me ^5's johnny for a very well timed, apt joke

I suppose that's what we sound like to those who are completely happy with their 61, and have had no nightmares with lenovo customer service. Fair enough, and more power.
But when newbs start making annoying threads asking "what do I do? I just read all these problems!" (another one just popped up), I hope authors of complaint parodies don't jump in on the flame explaining how complainers are just whining or making stuff up.
I thought warranty response in particular was hilarious, but I'm familiar with johnny. And you have to realize, it doesn't matter how over the top you go- irony and sarcasm won't always translate. Obviously, since there are a few around here who took even this seriously. -

Those types really offend me... -

And here I am from South Africa, the US media's favourite country to make seem _completely_ backwards.

This conversation belongs in the Dave Chapelle forum, not the Lenovo forum.

This thread has become pointless. I am closing it.
I've had it with Lenovo.
