I'm guessing this is a stupid question, but can you reformat the hard drive without deleting the factory restore partition?

i know that if you don't reformat, the performance isn't as fast as a freshly reformatted hard drive... but i don't see a feasible way to reformat without the partition being deleted... so im guessing everytime you do a restore, the hard drive becomes slower and slower?

don't use that, use the Windows partition manager in the administrative tools in control panel

are you really suggesting to login into Windows and to start formatting partition you're logged from?

well no, but as far as i can see he either wants to install another OS, in which case he could actually create another partition from the one he is working from. That or he wants to reinstall windows, which you wouldn't need to format the partition for because the installer will do it for him.
