If I want to take my (licensed) copy of Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and install on my X201, what do I need to know in advance? Are there a set of IBM ThinkVantage tools that I can download onto a USB drive so that I can load proper drivers? How would I go about doing this?

Install win7 first. Then go to Lenovo site and install system update. Run the system update and it should automatically install the drivers and software u need/want.

Yeah no problems, I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Like fusionist said, install Win 7 first, then go to Lenovo's site and download the 64bit drivers/software.

I have issues with the Power management driver v1.60 and Power manager (v3.12); they do not seem to do frequency scaling on x64 win 7; but do so on 32-bit XP. I have complained to IBM/Lenovo, but it seems I am the only one with this issue. Please report back how you fare through this installation. Notice the fan-speeds and also CPU frequency scaling, thermals. My fan speed at rest is constant level=3 >3500RPM, and freq cpu @ max 2753.

The PowerManager GUI failed to properly install. I have screen shots of the errors that I'll post later. The driver installed though.
