    Sadly :( my R40 fan died (after almost 3 years). I have taken such good care of the notebook, I called Lenovo up and THEM BASTARDS WANTED ME TO REGISTER! AHHHHHHHHH GRRRRR... Where Must I find A FAN. THIS R40 WAS MY MONEY MACHINE, NOW I GOTTA USE A ACER ASPIRE AND GET MADE FUN OF.
    ANy help on how to replace and get this darn fan is very welcomed :)

    How about getting the service manual from Lenovo's site. It should explain fan removal/replacement.

    THEY DONT tell me WHERE to BUY a NEW fan! They say "O this isn't a user fixable problem" "Sir, You should let us do this" Sir, please take it to a service center."

    I anit driving 2-3 hours to go to some serivce center.

    I've had fans supposedly die on me too.. They were Desktop fans, and a little WD-40 fixed them right up.. Usually they have a little port under the sticker that you just unplug, oil, and then replug.
    Not so sure about your Laptop fan, but I doubt its a whole lot different.. I mean, fans are fans..

    I have a IBM r40 which I have no use for. Only problem with it is the LCD is broken. I dont even use the laptop. It has 2 fans for sale ;) if you want them let me know.

    You can order parts directly from IBM... all you have to do is look up the part number (located in the assembly/install manual) of your unit on the ibm website

    I got part #s.. PROBLEM is most of them people who sell them in US and Lenovo is to much. EEk... How much u selling the r40 fans for?
