    You think it's the GPU? Is it replaceable, or will I have to replace the whole motherboard? Basically this happens once the laptop has been turned on for a few minutes. I replaced the inverter board a couple of months ago, and it has been pretty much fine since then, but now this just started a day or two ago.

    I think its more likely to be the connection from motherboard to laptop then your GPU.

    Plug it into an external monitor. If it works fine then it's not the video card, but either the screen or the connection somewhere between.

    Yes, try the external monitor thing. If it works, go to lenovo support site and get the hardware maintenance manual for your machine and follow the instructions to reseat the video cable on both ends.
