Okay, I need to know all your opinions or what you have heard about for this RAM: Crucial

Examples: Do you think Crucial makes good RAM, what are your experiences, does the RAM work well with Lenovo laptops EXT.

Even if you have never gotten Crucial RAM you may of heard about it so state what you have heard.

    All opinions appreciated!!

The reason I ask this is because I am buying RAM and I want to know opinions.

    Thanks!!

The only ram I buy and never had a problem. I maintain a network of 20 computers at my office and another 5 at my home. And have used them exclusively for at least 10 years.

I would say watch how you order. The cheapest way with them is to know the type of ram specifically and search by ram type. If you shop by system type you will pay a lot more. But their system search is very good if you are unsure of number of slots, etc. So a great reference for all those misc. systems you have.

    +1

Crucial's been a long time player in memory, being a division of Micron (one of the few true memory manufacturers)...I've used their mainstream memory a few times and never had a problem...i consider them a reputable brand, but typically more expensive than the competition unless you find a deal...

How do they compare to a company like Kingston, G.Skill?

Crucial has been around for a while and I have used them on many machines. Never had any issues with them so I can say they are reliable. I can't say much about kingston or G. Skill because I haven't used them. My friends have used kingston in the past for about 5 years or so and had zero issues as well. I think any ram from a respectable manufacturer should be fine in most cases.

I heard that there are issues with 4GB of RAM and the T61 mobo, are these issues fixed?

Crucial has a reputation for producing very reliable RAM. I have been using Crucial RAM for 10 years now, and I have never had a stick go bad. They also back up their product with a lifetime warranty.

Crucial is one of the big and well known RAM companies(though they all get them produced by a few real companies). They are a good brand. Make sure that whatever RAM you buy has a lifetime warranty. I am pretty sure Crucial does, but double check. I have 4GB of RAM in my T61p and it is fine. The problems that I think you are referring to was the one where you have 2 DIMMS and a GPU intensive app causing sudden shutdowns? This issue has been solved by Lenovo, as far as I know. They changed the motherboards they were using to ones that had higher tolerances for voltage draws. It seems that the large voltage draw was causing the sudden shutdowns with the older motherboards. If your machine has one of the older MOBOs then I think you can send it in do get the MOBO replaced under warranty. Check out the official Lenovo forums.

For OEM-replacement or addition Crucial is probably the safest bet.
