Well, yesterday I installed a wireless card and I think ever since then I have been having lock up wheres my computer will just completely freeze and there is nothing you can do. The wireless card is working fine, I did the BIOS hack, and even ran a test on the card. What could be wrong with my laptop..? I ran out of ideas, I have tried everything. It occurs randomly.

Take out the wireless card and see if it still does it. Also reflash your BIOS

    What is IRQ?

I don't think it's a BIOS flashing issue because I flashed the BIOS 4 weeks before I installed this card and it worked.

It's the Intel 5300 ABGN wireless card.

what "BIOS hack" are you talking about?   are you running a BIOS modded by zender to allow a 5100/5150/5300/5350 to work in your T61?   if so, have you checked the card to make sure your tape hasn't moved off of pin 20 for some reason?

IRQ = interrupt request.   this article on wikipedia should get you going in the right direction.   in my humble opinion, anyone with a "hacked BIOS" should know what an IRQ is. ;)

I know what IRQ means but I wasn't so sure because of the initials.

I didn't know you had to put tape on PIN 20! Are you sure you have to do this for the Intel 5300 card for a T61? If so, what kind of tape and which side of pins?
Remember that I have a T61 and im upgraded from a 3 antenna 4965ABGN card to a 3 antenna 5300 card. Do I still need to do the tape mod? I have Zenders Bios.

that depends on if zender whitelisted the 5300 into the BIOS.   if the card isn't explicitly whitelisted then you need to tape pin 20 to get Fn+F5 working.   unfortunately, the wireless switch won't turn the card off without being whitelisted.

pin 20 is on the top face of the card, second from the right after the notch.   holding the card face up and with the pins toward you, count 10 pins from the far right side of the card to find pin 20.

however, you might not need to tape pin 20.   it all depends on how zender set up the BIOS.   he'd be the one to ask about it. ;)

No you understood incorrectly. The card works perfectly, light is on, F5 works, Access Connection works. It's just that my machine randomly crashes big time so you need to do a hard reboot. When I install old card I get no crashes.

then either zender didn't mod the BIOS correctly, there is an incompatibility with the 5300 and the T61, or your 5300 is faulty.   it could be any one of these three.

does the 5300 give you something the 4965 didn't?   why not just go back to the original BIOS and the 4965 AGN?

    Listen,
Try it with the card out. You want to be able to get back to where you were so you can try one-at-a-time systemic changes.

Then you know what the problem is.

Was changing the card reallly worth all this effort, what benefit are you getting, aren't they both abgn cards?
