I am buying an IBM Thinkpad. I am buying a T series. This has narrowed it enough. Now I have 3 options:
Buy the t41p - no problems, except i cant really afford it. (and questionably dont need the 128 mb video card)
buy the t41 - hmmm, its more expensive than the t40p, which is basically the same thing as the fantastic t41p except with a 64 instead of 128 video card.
buy the t40p - well psychologically i would be buying the 'older' model, when i could buy the newer t41 but this has a better graphics card and similar other stats (hd, ram, chassis, etc.)
at 2080 with shipping included, the t40p (model 2373 g3u) which comes with 521ram and 60gb 7200rpm hd sounds a steal to me, especially given thats its a sturdy thinkpad with a great keyboard. any advice, warnings, etc?

I really don't think anyone needs to buy the T41. I doubt you need the extra features, like the HDD protection it offers. Go with the T40 knowing it's the best machine for you, dollar for dollar.

i just bought T40 (refurbish) last week from IBM and it was like new, no problem, LCD is perfect, no dead pixel. Everything is in good order.
I called IBM this morning and they are happy to send me recovery CD, great service.
I was thinking about T41 but I don't see anything difference between T41/T40 except the HD active protection.
I need (re)assurance and advice about purchase
