Son was using laptop, on battery power, and then went to school. Doesn't remember putting laptop to sleep or shutting it off.

Came home picked up laptop and would not turn on. Thought maybe battery was dead and plugged into AC adapter. No charge light. Does not turn on. No lights or sounds whatsoever.

Unplugged unit and pulled battery. Plugged AC back in and tried again. NADA.

Have read some stuff online about the Y570 doing this same thing and no one has found a solution yet.

Anyone here have anything we can try.

    Thanks!

Tried battery out, unplugged, push on button 10 times and then on 11th push hold it for 30 seconds... didn't work.

Still, nothing... no fan, no led, no HD, no lights at all including the charging light.

Just looked at receipt and it said I could return it anytime up to the 24th... which was today. BB was closed about 20 minutes before the notebook failed.

Gonna leave it unplugged with battery out for a few hours and try again.

Anyone else have an ideas of what to try?

This is our families first Lenovo and up to tonight it has been a good experience... but we've owned HP/Compaqs for years and years and NEVER had a single problem. Still hoping that we have the same type experience with this Lenovo too.

As of this morning, tried everything again and this Lenovo is nothing more than a big pretty $600 paperweight.

Just got off the phone with Lenovo. First time I contacted them and their service was immediate on the toll free phone line, and support was excellent.

Unfortunately, after a half hour of trying stuff I had already tried many times, to no avail, I was told to send the unit back for repair. Agent said this is a new, but known problem with the V570. We didn't discuss the Y570 so I didn't get any confirmation from Lenovo that that unit has the same problem.

    I was given two options:
    - try to return the unit back to Best Buy
    or
    - return it to Lenovo for repair at MY OWN COST for one way shipping.

I will be at BB's door when they open... wish me luck!

Best Buy knew about the problem and let me return the V570 for a full refund. :)

Congrats on a positive resolution. I don't think there are many people here who bought that model. I'm a little confused on why you decided to pick that one up.

Aluminum case, i5, 6GB ram, big HDD, nice keyboard AND under my $600 budget limit.... and if it was still working, we'd still be loving it.

I was looking into to this model as it looked nice and is rather cheap for what it is. But after reading your experience I probably think twice and look elsewhere now. Thanks for the info.

    Lyndos,
I considered getting the same looking Z570 as a replacement but started seeing posts from folks who have had the same thing happen as did with the V570. The Y570 seems like a good laptop but even that unit has posts of dying a premature death. Nowadays seems that every brand has problems with QC but some moreso than others.

    Good Luck with your search!

Has anyone heard of more examples of this being an issue with the Y570? I'm considering buying one this week

Hmmm...I just ordered one from BB, it was a refurb for $470CDN. Now I'm wondering if I should cancel the order. It is a pretty sleek looking laptop.

I hope I don't have any issues with this laptop, it's very quick. Especially for $438cdn. Bestbuy had them on for 469 refurbished and Futureshop put them on for 442$ so I had them price match. Great deal on a nice little laptop.
