Seems now may be a good time to jump on a new laptop. Lenovo is offering $150 rebate and I get another $150 off if I use my American Express card.
I was looking at the 2623DDU and I had a question on the ordering options I figured people here would be able to answer. I see it comes with a 4x DVD recorder. One of the optional add-ons is a Super Multi Burner. What is the difference?
-
-
I have a super multi burner in my desktop and it can burn both DVD formats i.e +/- and can also burn DVD RAM.
-
One other stupid question that I did a search on but couldn't find it. The Super Multi-Burner comes in as a slim drive or enhanced drive. What's the difference? Some Thinkpads take the slim version others the enhanced version?
-
How do you qualify for the $ 150 off for using your Amex card?
Might be a good time to buy if you can get $ 300 off. -
The rebate is good on select models up until 3/14. Here is the American Express card holders website;

OK I bought the 2623DDU without changing anything. Hopefully it will come sooner. Thanks for everybody's help.
-
Can be a little more specific on the rebate? I see the discounted price for the 2623-DDU from the link but I don't see anything about the rebate?
-
I guess I'm just a little confused here... why does the T43p cost almost a $ 1,000 more (retail) than the T60p on the Amex page? And the T43p is using a Yonah chip and the T60 is using a Core Duo...

i'm just curious...this might be a little off topic, but how do you manage to find these good deals (like with the card)...i don't see any links on the main website or the thinkpad sub websites

I found it a few months back through the AMEX website.

The Pentium M that is used within the Sonoma is a Dothan.

Ok now a question for those who have actually ordered already from Lenovo. When I go to their website to check order status it asks for Customer number and order number. I don't have either one. It says it is e-mailed to you after you place your order. I did get an email receipt but no customer/order number. Did you guys get your numbers right away?

I found this on another website. I don't know if it has been posted yet.

So Mandrake,
Have you gotten a delivery date yet. I'm hoping to order a 2623DDU tomorrow, but I dread the idea of getting a 3 month delivery date like some Z60 buyers did. I sure hope they built a lot of the "Express" models and can turn them around quickly.
BTW, I've looked into just about every vendor who might carry a T60 and _nobody_ has any idea when they'll get stock. I just wish there was somewhere, anywhere, that I could see one in person.

Yes, I want to hear ship dates!
I'm tired of using this old Inspiron 4100! That said the Inspiron that I'm using right now probably has a better build quality than most of the current Dell's out there. -
PCConnection and CDW have the T60 in stock but not the T60p. If you live in the Chicaoland area like I do you could always go to CDW to see one. I used to work near one now it is about 1hr30min from me. -
Maybe those who have ordered can follow this format and start posting! -
Ordered a T60p (200794u) on 2/21 and have 4/5 as ship date.
-
-
no except for the accidental care deal... They made a second order for ram and a docking bay...
-
Hey I didn't know that CDW already had them. I think I might go with them if Newegg doesn't have them in stock.

I ordered on 2/24 the T60p(2623DDU) w/ no changes to the listed item. The order includes a Dock(250410U). My ETA is 3/31.
I'll sig it too, just for fun... -
-
Update: Hmmm I'm still getting that weird website error. Time to use CDW. -
Ordered the T60 stock model 2623D4U on 2/13, est ship date: 3/20. No add ons.
The wait is driving me bonkers!
Almost considering getting a toshiba or dell b/c of the price diff, but by now the wait is the same :-(
Bought an hp a1350n desktop + 19" to hold me over.... (love the amd x2 btw) -
I am also considering the T60/T60p. I have the tabook and there is one thing I don't get (it may just be too obvious). What is the reason for the "p" (i.e. what's the difference between T60 and T60p?
-
ATI FireGL V5200 is the biggest difference IMHO. It's a Mobile Radeon x1600 core w/ "certified" OpenGL drivers (though I understand you can install standard Catalyst drivers if you want). Also, the T60p is the only model that you can get the 2.16Ghz CPU and 15" UXGA display (1600x1200) on.
For some reason the ThinkExpress, 2623xxx, models are only outfitted with the 2.0GHz processor, all the others are 2.16. Its only a 7% increase, granted, but when you just gotta have the very best...well, you know how it goes.

I ordered a T60p (200783U) on 18th Feb. The estimated ship date is 3/27.
-
-
No changes so far...
-
It's here! I'll try to do a write up for this forum.
-
It's been a while since I posted here. My T60 has been working with no issues since I bought it. These days I'm running Ubuntu on it and using VMware to run Windows XP and Vista. It's disappointing that Flexview isn't offered anymore through Lenovo. I was planning on using this notebook for at least two years then upgrading. Now it may be longer.
I may get the T60p...
