Did you even bother to look at the pictures I posted of Windows 7 in 1280x800? Just wanted to know if I wasted my time...ya know. I think proportionally, you will be fine with 1280x800...

Yes, I did! I think your idea is great! I even copied it and used it for Vista but it did not turn out so good because Vista is not always transparent. Only thing is, is whether or not I like the taskbar on the sides.

My T61 is very high-end in terms of what you can get in it. Ofcourse it would be worth it, but I am not doing it because of warranty reasons.

This laptop also was a gift for me and I will not sell it to get a new one. Everything is amazing about it, just one little mistake.

    Simple solution:
    1. Just keep your current T61, and be happy with it. OR,
    2. If you REALLY don't like the screen (to the point of hating your computer) then buy a new T400, sell your old T61, and be done with it.
I've read many times in this thread that you cannot afford/not worth it to do option #2, so I guess option #1 is the only one left.
Just as an FYI, I bought my T61 almost exactly a year ago. I have the same screen as you, with the same resolution, and I happen to LOVE my screen.
Just be happy with what you have.

I think you should just be happy with your laptop.

hey bro you can use a replacing the screen. but seriously you this computer for like 1yr and is it really worth the money and time. i think you should get a copy of windows7 and just install it in your computer and check it out. and it is something you think should be replaced then just replace the screen. that is all.

but i will be honestly i a windows guy but i am not sure if i am going to switch over to windows7. i am goingt to stick to windows xp. faster and and it the best i seriously dont need all the invisible bull(aero) it looks cool but if it doesnt perform i dont want it. and i have tested out windows 7 and right after of installing all the drivers the memory read at 845mb compared to windows xp which is 325mb how sweet is that. my thinkpad came with vista and i wiped it and just installed xp 32bit. but i think i am going to upgrade to a 64bit soon but i dont think that is really going to help my computer.

I am worried though if when I replace the screen if the quality will be as good as mine. I hope it is!

I called Lenovo and they said they don't ship LCD screens because they are glass!

Love my T500 with WXGA res - large fonts, easy reading, no eye strain ... for reading it's the best, for movies or entertainment then get a higher res ...

I completely agree with Jaredy's first post. If you didn't mind until now, why start? The new taskbar is not THAT much bigger than Vista's, and it's certainly not a big enough difference to worry about before you've tried it out.
