I love how completely modular these laptops are. I can order any part.

I love how lenovo publishes a hardware maintenance manual with all of the FRUs in there so you can just go online and order a part you want yourself. I'll never have to worry about maintaining the longetivity of this keyboard because I'll just order some backups when i get some spare benjamins =)

I really like this company, despite the occasional QC errors.

I'm definitely with you on this. Another benefit is that many parts remain standard across several model lines, and since there's a wide base of Thinkpad users, I'll always be able to find a replacement keyboard, or a replacement palmrest, etc.

Yes, this is a very important and rare selling point of ThinkPads, which many newbie buyers are not aware of.

Generic buyers of notebooks are usually only fussed about specs, design and brand value and hence often do not fully understand why many people are die hard ThinkPad fans.

The HMM and how easy it is for the individual to replace parts on ThinkPads is something which most other notebook manufacturers cannot match.

Except that the general public has been convinced that laptops and electronics in general are not just commodities to continually upgrade to the latest and greatest despite little added utility.
