Forums are always weighted more towards bad experiences, so I just want to say, I got great service from Lenovo.

As you might have seen in a previous thread, I recently had issues with replacing my wireless card in my X61s. The screws were tightened far too much on the mini PCI-E card. I was able to unscrew one pressing down as hard as I could and turning the screwdriver with pliers. The other one stripped.

So last Saturday I called support, and quickly explained the issue. Having accidental damage, there was no question about blame, so I can't say how it would have turned out otherwise. But as is, service was extremely prompt. They sent out a box NDA on Monday, which I received Tuesday. I then sent it back on Wednesday, and they received it on Thursday. Their online service tracking showed that they fixed it on Friday, and I received it today. All shipping was done NDA, and service itself was done in a single day.

They included a printout detailing all that was done to my machine. The repair ended up requiring a new motherboard, which they flashed with the latest BIOS and ran their diagnostic routine on. They even installed my Intel WLAN card that I bought elsewhere.

I'm not trying to say their service is perfect, though it has been for me. In previous cases, my T60p required two hard drive replacements, and a keyboard replacement. In both cases, I had the parts on my doorstep next business day. On the other hand, I had a friend who had his laptop lost in service for approximately a month which spanned over his trip to and beginning of an internship in Asia. They did there best to make up for it with some rather expensive freebies, but it was a major ordeal for him.

But anyway, I've been extremely happy with all four of my service calls. I'll just leave it at that.

Hum yes.... currently i am still waiting for parts for my T60, which has developed a fan problem 2 weeks before the 3 years warranty expiration. I still don't have ETA on as to when the fan will arrive. They did call me several times to explain the situation.

I honestly don't care as long as the laptop are fixed, i got couple of spare laptop that i can use.

In terms of parts shipment Lenovo is extremely fast, usually all within one to two days of calling. Regarding depot repair, they are bit slower if there is part shortages, but i guess that is understandable.

This is also why i want on site warranty, but funnily enough, i never use them, since the laptop rarely breaks down, on the occasion i use them, i just ask them to pick up and send it to the depot.

Thanks for sharing the positive news, Ethyriel. You're right--we are more prone to share bad experiences than good ones.
