How do I set my external monitor up with my Laptop. I want the external monitor used for other windows that I can just drag them to the monitor. I don't want it to replace my screen.

If you have presentation director installed, you can press Fn+F7 to bring up the dialog. Then create a new profile with an extended desktop.

Otherwise, you can use Windows display management.
    • Right click on the desktop
    • Select personalize on Vista/7, properties on XP
    • Go to display settings
    • Find the second monitor
    • Check Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor
    • Drag the monitor to the desired spot (e.g. left, right, above your laptop)

This should take care of it for you.
