This is a single band card that operates only on 2.4GHz frequency so it can't connect to any network on 5GHz band.

to connect to your router with your qualcomm you will need a cat5 or similar cable. to connect to your router with your centrino it will have to be on 2.4g band. Most routers and access points that have 5g capability also can broadcast on 2.4g, does the box say dual band on it? I was trying to check out newegg to see if any manufacturers sell just specifically 5g access points and routers but there is no search filter for bands, or 802.11b g n ect. http://www.newegg.com/Wireless-Routers/SubCategory/ID-145

I couldn't find a single router that was 5ghz or 802.11ac only, but it sounds like a bunch of routers can't concurrent broadcast on 2.4 and 5ghz at the same time.
