My new T61 is a Core 2 Duo T7100. Having just downloaded Core Temp to measure the temperatures of the processors. The Core Temp screen shows this:
"Processor: Mobile Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (Woodcrest)"
Does it mean I actually got a T5500? How do I verify it?
System info says "x86 Family 6 model 15 stepping 13 GenuIneintel ~1795Mhz"

Right click "My Computer" (or "Computer" if you're on Vista) and select properties. It should display your processor information there.
-
It does say T7100, but I'm wondering why Core Temp tells a different story?
-
Perhaps CoreTemp doesn't yet fully support the new Santa Rosa platform.
CoreTemp says the exact same thing regarding my CPU and it's also a T7100. -

If you are still concerned, check out the Intel® Processor Identification Utility at http://support.intel.com/support/processors/tools/piu/

I haven't stress tested my CPU that much, well - I haven't read temperatures except on the hard drive. I played Quake 3 and Max Payne 2 for a while and the left side isn't hot, .. there's warm air coming out but it's certainly not uncomfortable. Heat is to be expected, keep that in mind.
Seeing as Core TEmp is not reading the CPU kind correctly (assuming we indeed have T7100's ) I wouldn't take the temps too seriously yet. I could be wrong though. -
Intel's CPU ID utility picks mine up perfectly as a T7100, 1.8ghz, 800FSB lil puppy, all systems go, paranoia over.

P.S. There's a screw missing at the bottom of my T61. -
Hm, I haven't noticed, everything seemed to be there when I opened 'er up to install the extra ram. I got a few spare screws with the notebook I think..
I'm missing a few screws meself, used to it -

Called tech support to request the missing screws. They said they'll send me a whole pack via DHL (don't worry about the bad reputation of DHL since this is only screws). (I had thought they'd only send 1 screw to me )
I have C2D T7100 but Core Temp says T5500???
