I just bought an x61 costed me 900 bucks good deall =)
    very happy with the price.
i understand the shipping times are accurate?
=/ too bad its going to take a month but for 500 off the top of the price i am wiling to put up with it.

i do have some questions tho.
1)How is the laptop's 4 cell battery? everyone insists on getting the 8 but they don't have them available.
2)case? do u use it? were can i find a nice clean sleeve?
3)Lastly, hows the build quality. i know thers no roll cage. shoudl that be a concern?(my first llaptop was the x21and hten i had the r32 and im used to throwing things around)

    1. 4 cell lasts 2-3 hours on average use
    2. Lenovo sells them under accessories
    3. Top notch quality I believe

    Enjoy :)

I have the 4-cell myself, the battery life is 2 to 3 hours for me on battery stretch, but i haven't extensively tested that as i'm almost always plugged in. If you will be away from a power source for extended periods, you have to go with the 8 cell.

I have the leather ultraportable case that lenovo sells. It's really nice and small, but incredibly feminine.

The build quality is very solid and incredibly light. My only concern is the slight gap between the screen and the base, something that i'm not accustomed to. The cable that connects to the screen is also slightly exposed which maybe a concern.

As far as shipping goes, I was told i'd be getting mine on October 25th, and I received it on October 15! Was very happy and surprised with that.

Is a case really needed? When I get my x61s, I'm just gonna buy the $28 backpack from Lenovo and stuff it in there :p

If you do not have heavy textbooks in your bag as well, then it should be fine.

I bought my 8 cell from Amazon, though ProVantage and a number of other resellers still have them in stock. I have the tablet, but sfbags has a number of bags and sleeves that are custom fit per laptop. Check them out.

if you want just a sleeve, i would highly reccomend the Zeroshock III case for 12 inch laptops (if you have the 8 cell extended. get the one for 11 inch if you don't plan on getting the 8 cell).

the benefit is that this case is designed for full-screen monitors, while ones designed for the apple ones are widescreen, meaning that there would be room on the sides.

    the zeroshock fits quite well.
