So I got my T500. It is fine inside.

    But outside.

This small trackpad is no good. It sits too low and hurts my wrist to use.

    What is the return policy?

Do you mean touchpad or trackpoint? If trackpoint, you can adjust it's sensitivity in Control Panel>Mouse>UltraNav>Trackpoint settings.
    Hope it will help you.

how doe sthe touchpad hurt your wrist to use when any other laptop with a touchpad is located in the same region? the thinkpad is is arguably just a little bit lower because of placement of trackpoint buttons. Then again, you get any sony laptop and the touchpad will be as close to the edge as any thinkpad

Have you considered using the Trackpoint instead? Then you don't even have to take your fingers off the keyboard; you can type and mouse far more efficiently once you're used to it.

One of the biggest reasons why I chose a ThinkPad in the first place.

My wrist hurts because the buttons are on the edge and I have to twist to get to them when using the laptop on my lap.

Also the trackpad is too small.

And re: trackpoint, yes I might have to adjust to that. Because this is a huge dissapointment.

The size of the trackpad is much improved from the T60 and T61, and it's actually only a bit smaller than most laptop trackpads out there. You should increase the sensitivity of the trackpad so you don't have to move your finger across it as many times. Also, when you are using your laptop on your lap, it may actually be easier to use the TrackPoint mouse buttons.

Or, as other forumers have mentioned, you could try the TrackPoint.

The return policy is not very customer-friendly, you will have to pay a 15% restocking fee.

why not use a mouse?only use the trackpad when you have no other option. if you are travelling, get a little travel mouse. if you have bluetooth get a mouse using bluetooth.

Just to reiterate - try the TrackPoint.

Are you a touch-typist? You owe it yourself to use nothing but the TrackPoint for a couple of days. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised how great this little device is.

I'm not sure I can use another laptop again that doesn't have a pointer.

i kinda gotta agree that the trackpad is too small. i love my T400 but one thing I'm envious of with the apple laptops are those huge trackpads.

we likely wont get trackpads much larger than what we have now either since those trackpoint buttons take up a a third of the space.

Man, you must be using the trackpad in a REALLY awkward position. I cannot possibly see how this could hurt your wrists. Send us pics.

didja ever try the top left and right clickers? You won't have to twist your wrist so far for those buttons....Unless you have ridiculously small hands. lol

I have to agree with those that have said, use the Trackpoint. It may take a bit of getting used to, it took me a bit to get used to originally. But now I turn off the trackpad and only use the trackpoint. I find it much faster and easier to use. If you are on a desk, then just use a mouse, but for laptop use the trackpoint, for me, is much easier.

Might I suggest resting your computer on your legs closer to your knees? That way your wrists have room and sensitive areas aren't being cooked.

Definitely give the trackpoint a go. It's quite easy to get used to and very effective, and you never run out of space with a trackpoint :)

I use both and prefer the trackpoint for web surfing.
I hate Macs ha, my brother have a MBP PRO and the HDD feels like hell in the palmrest, mine is cool to touch. I have set the sensitivity for both devices to maximum.

    trackpoint >> trackpad

had a mbp for 7months my wrist hurts after. before the mbp i had a mouse on notebook, and in between the mbp and before the t2010 i had a thinkpad x41t

trackpoint is much more logical and i would rather have a mouse for anything the trackpoint cannot do with ease.
