    I cannot get the palmrest back on my 14.1" T61

    I've done the same maneuver on other Thinkpads....a Z61m and R60....with no problem.

    I read the service manual, saw the tutorial on the Lenovo site, and searched google. There has to be some kind of trick I'm missing.

    Slip the front lip on, and then lightly press the top edge down. On my sisters T61 I noticed that you need to barely flex the top corners to make it just fit easily into place. Basically use one hand on the edge, press towards the middle, and use your other hand in the center to make it bow up a tad.

    Figured it out. In addition to the palmrest screws, I'd also accidentally removed the keyboard screw, so the keyboard had shifted forward slightly during the palmrest removal. I removed the keyboard all the way and reseated it and the palmrest went back on easy as pie.

    That's why you don't do this stuff at 2:00 AM.
