People who know me on this forum must have heard me complaining about the X200. Screen, lack of digital video output, docking options, you name it. It is not that I really hate the model -- it is just that X200 is so close to my perfect machine that I cannot stand the remaining little issues I have with it.
This morning, I was browsing the outlet (on my trusty X30, no less), and I saw a new, almost fully-configured X200 listed for $700. And I broke down and bought it. The interesting thing is, after I placed the order, a new one with identical configuration (and a slightly different serial number) popped up on the outlet. So whoever wants an X200, now is your chance! Here is the configuration I ordered:
- Windows 7 Pro (64-bit)
- P8700
- 4GB RAM
- 160GB 7200RPM HDD
- Intel 5300 Wireless
- Fingerprint Reader
- Bluetooth
- Webcam
- 6-Cell Battery
PS. If the Lenovo parts lookup system is to be trusted, the machine should also come with the following features (not listed on the outlet page):
- Verizon WWAN Card (42T0961)
- X200 Ultrabase (42X4963)
-
That looks like a pretty good deal! And that X200 in the outlet is still there. If only I had the money..

Well, a week had passed, and there is no second email with the final price and the order tracking number. Email to Lenovo outlet went unanswered (so far). And the outlet site has been down for almost an entire day. Sounds like a typical outlet ordering experience!
I guess they will either cancel my order in June, or I will go home today and find the laptop sitting at the front door... -
For people who are interested in refurbished X200:
The outlet is finally back online (after being down for almost the entire work week), and there were 20 (now down to 12) refurbished ThinkPad X200 (745434U) in stock for $695. Even though the outlet specification page does not say so, 745434U is supposed to come with X200 Ultrabase and built-in DVD+-RW drive (along with P8700 CPU, Bluetooth, Camera, and Fingerprint Reader). Sounds like a pretty decent deal to me!
There is, of course, a downside to ordering from the outlet. I still have not heard anything from the outlet store (except for the initial confirmation email) since I placed my order 10 days ago... -
Ya, but if you can afford the uncertainty in wait time you are protected financially with your CC. Agreed on it being a good deal, especially with the ultrabase and drive (though I guess that would need to be confirmed).

They will not response to email, Lenovo outlet is messup. I was ordering a netbook from the outlet, I send them a email to cancel it, but they still sent it to me.
-
I think calling is definitely necessarily for any cancellation.

Still haven't heard anything back from Lenovo Outlet, but my X200 arrived today!
I have opened only the outer box, and indeed an X200 Ultrabase is included as part of the system. I am feeling great about the purchase experience right now -
all this for 700 dollars..... what a bargain.
I broke down and ordered a new X200
