I'd upgrade the screen, unless you have sight problems - quoted from somewhere else.

    seriously, upgrade the screen.

I chose the WXGA+ screen and the total after discount came to $661.50!

BTW OP, I would've chosen the fingerprint reader instead of the 7 cell battery since you can always purchase the battery at anytime but you cannot add the FP reader afterwards.

i didnt chose the 5470, cuz its 1.6mhz and i figured 1.66 would be better. The 800mhz fsb really doesnt make a diff to me. I am having second thoughts because i got the Quadro atfirst i wanted it, but now i kinda feel like i shoudnt have bought it and isntead should have gone with the integrated x3100.

    what do you think?

Yeah I finally gave in to the nice deal. You can drop the 7 cell, HDD and GPU or just keep the GPU. You'll still save some money.

    Hi,

    it's totally up to you.

for me, I don't game at all. the quadro will just produce heat and burn battery. x3100 is good enough for me, even the gma950 is enough for what I am doing...

    up to you :)

I believe the 5470 is Santa Rosa...the t5450 is not. Neither have visualisation.

No. Both are Santa Rosa. They may have different FSB, but that doesn't matter. Both use Socket P, which is exclusive to Santa Rosa.

"Santa Rosa will feature an all new Core 2 Duo chip with a number of enhancements over the outgoing processor. Like the Merom chip before it, the new Core 2 Duo will feature up to 4MB of on-die cache, but there are plenty of other changes. First up, the new chip utilises an 800MHz Front Side Bus, while the outgoing one was limited to a 667MHz FSB. This will speed up overall system performance, although there’s more to the new FSB than just its speed."

is this a Santa Rosa? Socket M??

YES......the Santa Rosa platform has the benefit of offering a 800mhz FSB but that doesn't mean every CPU for that platform has to take advantage of it.

    Since you don't believe me:

    Why do you say Indian?

What difference does this make, Indian?

What is your name?! Did you just speak with Tushar... hmmm?

I'm not sure as to the logic of honoring their mistakes. I don't think that's part of the corporate mentality, nor should it be, IMO.

Nonetheless, I'd be annoyed too, this morning, were this to happen to me.

Even more so, when it'll likely take a while for your card to be credited with the purchase amount.

btw, was this a pricing mistake, or has something else caused your deal to go kaput?

I am not sure we had the same problem, but this morning I called Lenovo to checkup something in my T61p order (7/20) and I was told by the sale rep that my order is invalid. While the online order status page showed it as "in progress"!!!
The sale rep explained me that they transitioned their ordering system to a new one and due to some transition problems, my order became invalid (some of the parts in my order were showing up as not existing). I was also told that if I want to fix the problem I would need to cancel it and make a new one. The sale rep also made sure that total price for the new order would be the same as original (with all the discounts I had).

So if I were you, I'd call Lenovo again during EST business hours. You might get "lucky" and get a different answer.
