Any ecoupons out there I'm missing? I used USPTIME2SAVE to get to this number....

I've never owned or really checked out Lenovo's so I don't know how this ranks. It will be used for Business, Videos/Editing and occasional Strat gaming among other things.

No LED screen and no Camera.

Can't replace the backlighting in the future (unlike RAM, HDD, even CPU)

Extra camera is extra cable and one more thing to worry about.

The lack of LED has been the only reason I haven't jumped at the W500 but some people don't care about LED. For the HD, I prefer the 160GB 7200rpm drive due to the transfer speed but I can understand wanting more space though. I would recommend adding the camera just in case you need it in the future. Otherwise it looks like a good deal to me.

Funny....I DO have the camera in my cart I saved...guess the thing didn't update... I always get that and BT. As far as replacing the backlighting, that's what the warranty is for as I never keep a unit longer than 2 years anyway. Yes, what I really want is 1440.900 LED....my bifocals are driving me crazy :D

EDIT: the camera shows up on Detail listing, not summary...same price. HD: I believe the larger 5400 HD's are just as fast as the 7200's

EDIT2: This thing doesn't have a built in flash card reader, right? whoops, it does....just doesn't show up in summary

You can use the CPP to get a larger discount on the W500 series.

$1,337.55 total with 3 year warranty from what I might get.

I'd recommend you the system below, then swap RAM and drive aftermarket. Your system will be noticably faster with that HD compared to what you can get from Lenovo, plus it will be cheaper, replacable in a minute and won't void your warranty.

So here's the Lenovo System I'd configure:
    Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)1
    Genuine Windows Vista Business12
    15.4" WSXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight
ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 512MB VRAM
    2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm4
DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)5
    Integrated Bluetooth PAN
    Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)10
    Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (3G)
    6 cell Li-Ion Battery60
    4058: 1 Year Depot Warranty - TopSeller7
    Processor1 Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2)
Operating system12 Genuine Windows Vista Business
Operating system language Genuine Windows Vista Business US English
Recovery DVD Microsoft Windows XP Professional US English RDVD
Display type 15.4" WSXGA+ TFT, w/ CCFL Backlight
System graphics ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 with 512MB VRAM
    Total memory 2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM)
    Keyboard Keyboard US English
Pointing device UltraNav (TrackPoint and TouchPad)
    Camera 1.3 Megapixel Integrated Camera
Hard drive4 160 GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm
Optical device5 DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim (Serial ATA)
Card Reader 7 in 1 Media Card Reader
System expansion slots Express Card Slot & Smart Card Reader
    Bluetooth Integrated Bluetooth PAN
Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters10 Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)
Mobile Broadband Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband (3G)
    Battery60 6 cell Li-Ion Battery
Power cord Country Pack North America with Line cord & 90W AC adapter

    = $1,363.95 with USPSAVEMORENOW.

Then replace the HD with an Western Digital Scorpio Black 320GB, 7,2k and the aftermarket: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136280

    Get a 4GB DDR3 Kit with 7-7-20 timings at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...Memory+(Notebook+Memory)-_-G.SKILL-_-20231213

    That's all together: $170 + $110 + $1,364 = $1644

So you can now sell your original HD and 2GB RAM at Ebay and expect at least $100, I think. So you're cheaper or at least even with the Lenovo pricings, but rest assured the drive will be much snappier compared to the mainstream drives you can get at Lenovo. Here's a storagereview drive comparison chart I made for another thread: http://www.storagereview.com/php/be...&devID_1=355&devID_2=338&devID_3=329&devCnt=4
