Looking at t61 configs and notice no options for sound. Does it have integrated sound? If so, how's the quality? Also, wondering if the express card is pcmcia. Thanks!

If you want good sound invest in a good pair of headphones.

Yeah, I have sennheiser hd580s and Grado rs125 - just need to know if the chipset for sound is good - any notebook speaker is going to have crap sound out of the tiny little speakers. Why doesn't it have a sound option for customization?

Ummm... it's audible. Not much else to say, but the speakers are clear and don't break up. The headphone input is surprisingly good with a minimal amount of noise, so connecting up an external speaker system or some headphones will be your best bet.

The sound is pretty bad due to the location of the speakers. I fail to see why so many maunfactuers think that on the front of the notebook is a good location. The best notebook speakers I've seen are either above the keyboard or on either side of it where they won't be blocked as easily.

I like the sound and don't have any complaints, sharp and clear. In fact I am listening to a CD sample right now as I am typing this and it is great. Obviously, laptop speakers aren't going to be the best, but it is much better than the ASUS I heard that had speakers on the bottom on the machine under the keyboard
