Hi, I have a W500 and the thing is virtually dead silent. It is amazing how quiet it is. Can I expect the same from the x300 and x200, or will I be disappointed because they're smaller notebooks with tiny fans in a small space, etc?

well my X300 isn't THAT quiet but when i it without the CDROM the SSD is dead silent, its actually more quieter than the W500

but running the cdrom like flying a jet compared to W500

next week i'll be able to tell you about the X200 :p

The x200 (as well as the tablet) is EXTREMELY QUIET. The fan runs very slowly and is effectively inaudible. The one thing I ocassionally do hear is the infamous "Penryn whine" caused by the dynamic volting in the CPU. This however, is also very mild, and I only hear it in rooms with no ambient noise. Even then, I only hear it because the system fans are so quiet as well (other computers would drown this whine out).
