If the driver is sorted out for the BSOD issue related to the SATA, turbo memory, or shock sensor I would likely move it up to excellent. I am more than happy though.

I still cant get over how cheap the T61P is over there in the states. It would be cheaper for me to fly to NY and buy the T61P then it would be from an australia retailer.

So yeh, if i were you guys i would be bloody well happy with it.

I'm with aadadams. Don't know who is to blame so hate to lower the HW rating if this is a MS or Intel issue. Bottom line is Lenovo is the integrator and ultimately responsible, though.

    Voted very good.
Not as good as previous generations (pre-Lenovo), but still better built than most laptops out there and still backed by IBM warranty (EZServ)... and it's cheaper than IBM days.

I gave it a "very good".

If they could have given me the same performance in the old T4x form factor, I'd have asked to add a choice to the Poll; namely "Prefect".

I'd have to agree with ooxxoo, this T61p costed me only 1/3 of what I paid for a T42 in the old days. Service and quality are still very good.

    software not so great.
once they sort out things on the software side, it'll be an excellent machine

when you get your laptop, either run pc wizard 2007 and look up the part number in google. or, when Lenovo updates their site with the parts they used for your system, you can get the part number from there.

other than a few hiccups (search my postings), i say excellent.
i'm coming from a 14.1" Toshiba M115 that was same weight and virtually the same size as my T61p and nowhere near the quality.

everything is running quite smoothly now that the Standby/Resume issue is resolved.

only 36 running processes. slim and fast. :]

I think it the build quality is okay, it really doesn't feel that solid, the lid doesn't close tight, and the materials aren't that nice.

The value is high though, you get a lot of machine for the price.
