Pardon me if this is a stupid question, but how can one verify that a T43 is running in dual-channel memory mode?

I have used identical memory cards on both slots -- does that automatically and transparently put the system in dual-channel mode? Or is there also some visual indicator I could look for?

Dual Channel memory only gives you minimal improvement at best on your T43. Because the motherboard supports dual channel memory, all you need is two DDR2's of the same size memory. Two 512mb sticks will automatically boot as dual channel.

You can verify the dual channel setup in your bios.
