    You are doing it wrong. The MacBook should be used as a cooling pad for the T420 as the MacBook has an aluminum chassis which dissipates heat better than wood or glass (unless I failed at chemistry and am totally wrong about this fact).

    I remember a housemate (owns a Mac) who placed her feet on top of a Toshiba lappy 3 years ago.

    Toshiba owner: "What are you doing?!"
    Mac owner: (turning red) Oh ****, I thought it was a foot rest.
    Toshiba owner: *****!

    It was never the same in that house.
