    Is there some tutorial or web page with explanation?

    You have to own a drive containing the FDE option. They are explicitly marked, and unless you buy the drive with FDE in mind, the drive won't support it.

    I think Lenovo uses Seagate for FDE drives. There's a Seagate 7200.4 FDE drive out there that's 500GB. It seems to be about $20-30 more than the normal 500GB with shock proection (I'm starting to wish I got the FDE drive instead..)

    Btw, buying FDE drives directly for Lenovo is VERY expensive. the $20-30 diff is the aftermarket drive in OEM packaging.
