Guys, I bought a new T61 as a gift for my younger brother. It has only 1G SDRAM and I want to upgrade it to 2G SDRAM. I have a Dell inpiration 9300 and it is pretty easy to upgrade (just open a cover at the bottom of the computer). I have no idea about the T61, I do not know where and how to install the memory.
Please help me and give me some suggestions.
Thank you very much.

Check the hardware maintenance manual on Lenovo's website. It will explain the procedure. I believe the memory slots are located under the touchpad.

please read the thinkpad sticky before posting

if you look at the bottom of the laptop, there will be four screws with a little icon of a memory chip next to them, remove all four screws, flip the laptop over and the wrist rest will pop right off. Take caution not to remove it too fast because there is a cable under it attaching the touchpad. the memory dimms are right under it as mentioned before. more details in the sticky.

The booklet that comes with it more or less clearly tells you how to do it.
I did have a hellofatime getting it to slip into the slot at that angle. It is just not really clear exactly where it goes. For what it is worth, I think it would be invaluable if one of you guys could do a super clear closeup of the memory stick sliding into the slot so that one could see the angle and entry point easily.
I did finally get it in but it was much more of a pain than I thought it should be. -
here are some pics i took with the cover removed:

also, if you have the fingerprint scanner, then be careful to not rip that out too...just tilt the palm cover down -
Does the T61 only have two dimm slots for memory? And also what is the max memory capacity the mainboard supports?

The board supports 4Gb of memory if you have a 64 bit OS, otherwise it'll only do a little over 3GB.
How to upgrade T61's memory, Please help.
