    Happy New year folks.
I found a great deal on a x60 with T2400 and ultra dock.
My plan was to give it to my in-laws to use as a portable computer and have it do light media playback.

I have tried to output 1920x1080 onto several of my personal flat panel TVs and that option or even the intel custom option is not available.

I have the latest, i believe intel GMA950 drivers loaded.
    I am running win7 pro
The laptop and dock do NOT offer a digital video out.
Normally the digital out would then enable these optional resolutions within the intel video software.

The spec's for this laptop says max res output of 2048x1536

The plan again was some minor htpc work, i have owned the first gen mac mini with the same core duo cpu and the same GMA950 gpu and had zero problems with 1080p playback via eyetv DVR recording or live TV,yet this was via dvi out on the mini.

I have a few headless HP 6910p laptops that are using the GMA3100 and have seen this same limitation via analog out
Yet once on the dock with digital DVI out, I could set to 1080x1920 output.

Therefore, HOW does one get 2048x1536 or lower out of this x60 via analog?

    the x60's GMA950 don't support that resolution.

? Don't see why not since the GMA950 does on everything else and it says so here
Lenovo Support - Detailed specifications - ThinkPad X60

I may have to try to load a generic intel driver/software to gain the custom rez support and not that from IBM/Lenovo

    i mean the 16:9 resolutions, i.e. 1600 x 900, 1920 x 1080, etc.

16:9 resolutions are not the problem as it does just fine with 720p 1280x720 or 1360x768, 1680x1050,1440x900 and many more.
When it reads the monitor connected correctly.

Point being, is there is no way i can find with the lenovo intel driver/software to even set

you can get the X60 to output 16:9 resolution? That seems weird i have tried my X60 with a few 16:9 monitors, and it doesn't output any 16:9 resolution with the vga port.

I can get 16:9 resolution if i use the usb2dvi adapters, but they don't really work well with high resolution movies.

    OK update:
I also have a 42" Insignia Best Buy brand 1080p panel in my guest room.
Hooked it up to that TV via vga and i get all the options including 1920x1200 and 1920x1080 @ 60hz all the way to 100hz +

Therefore this is possible, yet i need to get past the fixed res options if the computer mis reads the panel.

Like i said the GMA950 CAN do 1080p output without dropped frames, i have used it for years with the old mac mini

    Edit:
Got it going all working fine now at 1920x1080 60Hz "1080p" even on one of my 52" Sony Bravia 1080p TVs.
Plays everything even torrents just fine, full 1080p ts streams, even Blueray rips in full 1080p
I use two HD Homerun HD network tuners on our network.
That is four tuners all together.
These are FULL bandwidth tuners & DVRs, live playback is flawless as i expected, even the recorded material.

The Intel driver software can be a tad difficult, yet I know it was doable.

Great condition T2400 core duo x60 with ultra dock, eight cell battery at over 95% health and 2gb ram for $50, needed a new hard drive.
It was listed @ FREE, therefore i offered the $50 just to get it ;)
    Craigslist special

Now to find something to pass the digital audio "dts & dolby digital"

There are also TVs that will only let you run at that strange 720p resolution when you are hooked to it via VGA. I use my X200 on my 40" Toshiba all the time for movies and etc, but had to use the Displayport out of the Ultrabase in order to get it to display 1920x1080.

AFAIK, I remember getting my old X61s to output 1920x1200 via VGA to an old CRT monitor I had as an experiment(old 22" capable of QXGA, but I could never get it to do QXGA with either that or my T60p). I'm sure the X60 could get it to display as long as your device supports it via VGA.
