    Hi,

Thank you for such a detailed post.

I do still have some queries if you could help me clarify my doubts.

    I have a Lenovo Z500 IdeaPad series laptop (Windows 8) which came with a 60GB storage/parition for C drive.

I'm running out of space and was trying to extend the partition using Paritioning tools but I don't get the option to extend the C drive after creating an unallocated partition (let's say 10-15 GB). So I'm trying to make my C drive partition to be somewhere around 70-75 GB after the extension of the C drive.

One thing I noticed that I have a 300 MB (approx.) partition right after the C drive. It doesn't look like an OKR partition but something else as I already have a 25 GB (approx.) of OKR partition.

I'm suspecting that this 300MB of partition is coming in my way while extending the C drive partition but I'm just guessing. I could be wrong as well.

So, I'm currently stuck here and can't seem to find a way of extending by C drive partition without messing up the OKR setup and loosing my current Windows setup.

Also, I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to make a backup of factory default image of the OS, so that I can run it in case my system fails to boot at somepoint in time.

When I open the OKR app, it gives me two options: System backup & Restore.

I'm also confused if system backup would do the backup of the complete OS (with all the apps installed at this point)? If that's the case, then how can I restore from this image in case of a boot failure?

To be precise, these are my questions:

#How to extend the C drive without affecting the OKR setup/partition and having the current Windows setup (with my apps installed) as it is after the extension of the partition?

#How to restore the system backup image (backed up using 'System Backup' option in OKR app) when the system fails to boot? Do I need to write it to a disk or saving it on another partition would also work?

#Is there a way to image the factory default image so I can use it to install the OS afresh, in case I run into any issues with the OS in future and want to have a clean OS installed?

If needed, I can share the screenshot of the parition table to give you an exact idea how my Disk is partitioned.

I would really appreciate any suggestions/links on this.

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Regards,
    Nick

    Hi.

At first sorry for my bad english )

Does anyone knows how to set up factory restore phase of OKR8 to my own disk partition layout ?
    Some additional info:
    - I have Lenovo notebook with UEFI
    - HDD with advanced format (4K physical sector)
    - disk partition type GPT
    - I want that partitons layout will like this:
    - partition 1 : fs=NTFS, size=1024 MB, content Windows RE
    - partition 2 : fs=FAT32, size=260 MB, content UEFI boot
    - partition 3 : fs=RAW, size=128 MB, content MSR
    - partition 4 : fs=FAT32, size=1024 MB, content Lenovo OneKey Recovery Environment
    - partition 5 : fs=NTFS, size=102400 MB, content Windows 8.1
    - partition 6 : fs=NTFS, size=%all_remain_space% MB, content Windows 8.1 Users profiles folder that will setting up during windows installation and other user info (in manner Unix/Linux /home dir)
    - partition 7 : fs=NTFS, size=15360 MB, content part of Windows pagefile.sys (in manner Unix/Linux swap partition)
    - partition 8 : fs=NTFS, size=20480 MB, content Lenovo OneKey Recovery "PBR_DRV" partition which will contain factory or my own made system image and others required partitions images

OneKey Recovery it is Cyberlink PowerRecover originally, but I can't find any technical or service information about it. How to set it up with my own disk partition ?
In additional I need that during restore phase partiton 6 will not format, but rename folder(s) that contains in image of this partition (it folder "Users") to "Users.old" or "Users.bak" and restore this folder(s) from image. Is it even possible ? Can anyone have service manual to OneKey Recovery 8.0 ?
As I can see restore to factory default state phase have settings in two files:
    - %PBR_DRV%:\OKRBackup\info.ini
    - %PBR_DRV%:\OKRBackup\RestConfig.xml
Is someone knows names of parameters in this files and its correct values ?

    Thanks for your help

Okay, I followed the steps on my Y50 (after cloning my old hard drive to a new larger one). I got to the part where it states: "osimage /fb", and I did that but the OKR image that is made is only ~ 450 Mb large. When I try to recover using OKR (Novo button), it states that it can't find a backup. So...anyone know what's wrong? It's using OKR 8.1...

Figured it out, parlty, thanks to another post on here:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ideapad-essential/767275-solved-fix-repair-nova-button-one-key-recovery-lenovo-yoga-2-pro-after-ssd-upgrade-full-walkthru.html
    =====

    The KEY is to type

    osimage /nopbr

    BEFORE

    osimage /fb

Doing the /nopbr option does something that resets an INI file that then makes OKR (I presume) think that it's installed for the first time).

HOWEVER, now the osimage program crashes with an error message

[KEY] WIM unknown msg type ....

Capture image failed. It seems like it crashes w/

    [INF] WIM Error msg = G:\OneKey\winpe\LRS.wim Errorcode = 80

    Any ideas now?

    Hi all,

just to give my story here.

Got Ideapad z710 with FreeDOS so here is how I got OKR working witn Windows 8.1 :

    1. Download OKR 8 DVD from : Lenovo One Key Recovery (OKR) 8.0 ISO and Download and Setup Guide | Evozi Plus
    2. Follow instructions there (change language, it works as described there), so download ISO and change language
    3. For clean install (no other way for FreeDOS) remove all partitions and convert to GPT (UEFI mandatory filesystem), this can be done with EaseUS Partition Master :
Download EaseUS via torrent, use Tool -> Create WinPE bootable disk, select USB drive, download WinPE and boot from it
When it boots, use it to delete all partitions, then right-click the drive (not the unallocated space, it's above that) and convert to GPT, click the Apply checkmark and wait for it to finish
    4. Now, download UltraISO, run it, select File -> Open and find the OKR ISO file, then select Bootable -> Write disk image, choose your USB drive, select Format and format the drive, then select Write (make sure to set write method to USB-HDD+)
    5. Boot from USB, check the checkbox and press the button (not much else to do there really)
    6. Now you have everything ready for Windows 8.1 install (make sure to boot the EFI install, I use the OKR button, select Boot options and use the EFI ODD... item from the menu), make sure to select the correct partition for Windows installation (it's labeled Windows8_OS), and don't worry about the size, it can be changed later
    7. When the installation is complete, turn off the PC, press OKR button and select System Recovery (if you have a menu)
    8. You should now see the OKR 8 GUI, and it should be in English
    9. Press Ctrl+Shift+O to open CMD, type diskpart.exe, when you get :
    DISKPART >
    type in :
    lis vol
    10. Find the partition labeled PBR_DRV and note the drive letter
    11. Type exit to close diskpart
    12. Type the partition letter in CMD (ie : i :)
    13. Run the backup.bat file
    14. The image creation process will begin, and will show progress as it backs-up the data

After reboot of the PC, it will be ready to restore.

    Notes :
    - You can fill the drive to around 35GB I think, correct me if I'm wrong
    - You can run the Sysprep tool to get the out-of-the-box-expirience (prompt for computer name, user name etc...)
    - Make sure to follow all the steps, as I've wasted a good day installing Win about 4 times until I got it right
    - Using GPT in UEFI boot mode is mandatory, either Win didn't want to install, or later the OKR didn't want to backup when I didn't do that combination

Hope this helps someone save time since I lost a ton of time and nerves getting this to work...

just got the OKR8 recovery system installed on my Ideapad u430 with my own fresh, 8.1 Update 3 MSDN installation, including drivers, apps and settings. Its working great, and is a lot more handy that carrying around an external drive with a windows image on it. Losing 20Gb ish storage on my 512gb SSD is so worth it.

thanks all the contributors to this thread :)

Now, the real question is, dare I actually test a full recovery to see if it works? otherwise ill have to reinstall everything all over again

EDIT: yep, the full "initial" recovery process worked flawlessly. Great job everyone :D

link626 I tried to recover my y510p to factory state using OKR. When I tried the first option to restore to factory state it said "Partition structure altered". I tried your method in the first post and now it says, "Cannot find initial backup image, service cannot continue".
    Someone please help.

Okay, I managed to get OKR to dump a new image to the recovery partition. I have all the backup *.OKR files as well as a new info.ini. file. HOWEVER, when I try to restore from OKR, it STILL complains that the partition size is incorrect. Any ideas at this point???

    Here's what I did:

Cloned Factory installed 256 Gb SSD (OKR works here) to larger 1 Tb SSD. At this point, I then installed the new 1 Tb drive in my computer.

Booted to OKR using Novo button.
    Hit Control-Shift-O.
    went to PBR_DRV drive
    cd onekey\osimage

    typed:
    onekey /nopbr
    onekey /fb

    I let it complete (success).

    dir \okrbackup\factory
I see all the files are now dated w/ current date, and there's a info.ini file w/ the updated date/time.

Now, when I close the command window and try to restore a factory backup from the menu, it gives the error: "The program cannot restore the system partition because its structure is incorrect. You may have to recreate the partition to continue"

    Ideas????

Here's a copy of my Info.INI file, if anyone can make sense of this and let me know if there's something I need to change to enable restores:

    Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo Z580 with an OEM Windows 8 Single Language. But somehow my first four small partitions were damaged and lastly the entire disk went dead. So, now I want to recreate all the partitions as they were in the factory state. I don't have any Windows 8 dvd from Lenovo. What I have is only a USB Recovery Drive which I created when I bought the PC. Could any one please help?

    Regards,

    Hi keoanu,
Are you still here in this forum to help the people? If so, then mine is a problem. As I stated in my previous post, I deleted my all partitions including PBR drive on my IdeaPad Z580 which came with Preinstalled Windows 8. Now, somehow I managed to download OKR 8 iso and then burned it onto a 4 GB USB drive but when I installed this on my system it installed an older version of DISKPART on my system while the version of my DISKPART was 6.2.9200. Moreover, after applying the OS image from my USB Recovery drive to the created PBR partition in the command prompt in the installed OKR 8 environment, I found everything was working well except that the WINRE_DRV and the PBR_DRV are visible in the Optimize Drives window. Though I tried to resolve this problem by applying different changes in the OKR files but nothing worked. I think the problem is in the OKR files but I am failed to understand where does it lie in the OKR files and what changes should I make to correct it?
One more question- will old DISKPART version be updated to the latest one after installing the windows updates?

my y50 onekey initial state image is corrupted. but i have a backed up image from the desktop onekey app on another partition on the hdd. I was wondering is it possible to move/copy my backup.wis image from onerecovery and make it my initial factory image?

Also I copied my previous PBR_DRV partition files but my partitions are corrupted so i would get the error incorrect partition size or something.

My backup PBR_DRV partition on my secondary hdd. Wondering which files do i need to copy to my current PBR_DRV partition so the initial backup option works?

    PBR_DRV
    -OKRBackup
    -Factory

    -Lenovo

    -RefCmdsAfter
    -RefCmdsBefore
    -RstCmdsApply
    -RstCmdsFormat
    Boot.okr

    Info.ini

    MBR.okr
    ReCreatePartitions.txt
    ResetConfig.xml

i repartitioned my c using easus of course after i have done that lenovo recovery corrupted and when i tried to get into recovery from the novo physical button it said damaged i managed to fix this issue by changing id of partitions etc and managed to make it work again.
last i tried to format the c using a normal windows 10 disk and install fresh home from microsoft after that novo recovery button didn't work anymore as u see in the images above it automatically gets into normal boot mode .
so is there a solution for that
