Hi everyone, I really need to figure out what to do. I had broken power cord right by the AC connector on my Lenovo T61p type 6459-CTR, one day I saw a spark and computer stopped getting charged. I bought new power supply but it still was dead. I took it to local computer shop and said that a voltage controller is burned and can not be replaced because a circuit board is double layered and to hard to replace it. He said that whole circuit board has to be replaced. If that's the case where can I buy a proper circuit board and can I actually replace it my self with out soldering?
Thanks everyone in advance!

Maybe its time to consider a new computer.
However, if you want to repair yours the circuit board can be replaced without soldering. The service parts list is here: System service parts - ThinkPad T61 and T61p (15.4-inch widescreen).
Instead of replacing the board with the exact same model, I suggest using one of the boards with the Intel GPU instead. It won't be as powerful, but the nVidia GPU on your original board has a manufacturing defect which will cause it to die sooner or later.
The Intel boards are the 42W7651 and 42W7875. There is a seller on ebay who's got a few of these boards for $260.
To actually replace the board, refer to the instructions in the Hardware Maintenance Manual here: Lenovo Support - Hardware Maintenance Manual - ThinkPad T61, T61p 15.4inch widescreen (type 6457, 6458, 6459, 6460, 6461, 6462, 6463, 6464, 6465, 6466, 6467, 6468, 6470, and 6471) -
Thank you very much! Grate information, I appreciate it a lot!
