    Hey guys,

So over time I have been noticing that the eraserhead(TrackPoint) tends to leave marks on the screen when closed due to force pressing the screen onto the eraserhead (I am using the soft rim, so the mark ont he screen is a very faint matte-finish circle in the middle of the screen). For a while I could simply just clean it off with some water. However, I have not had the time to clean my laptop for a while and now that ring does not seem to be able to come off! Does anyone know of a surefire way to get rid of the marks left by the eraserhead? I am using a T60 Widescreen.

I've used windex to 409 to isopro. alcohol... nothing will get it out!

What are you using to wipe it? Paper-based products don't work; you need to be using a type of cloth.

I am using a microfiber cloth that came with my plasma TV... i have other kinds of cleaning cloths but they haven't done anything.

Use eye glass cleaner cloth or microfiber cloth.

    edit: don't use windex

If there was dust/dirt/sand/whatever on the TrackPoint cap prior to shutting the lid, said cap could've permanently scratched the LCD so the mark may end up never coming off. :(

Is it okay to use rubbing alcohol on the screen?

Isopropyl alcohol is okay to use on any LCD screen, which I think is also considered rubbing alcohol.

i know this doesn't help you now, but just to other thinkpad owners. i think the best method is prevention.

i would highly recommend getting a keyboard/screen protector cloth. i got mine from Radtech, and I really appreciate it.

Isopropyl only, NOT ethanol, which you may apply internally (not to the computer).

Thinkpads ship with a bag of different pointer buttons; perhaps you should swap it with a low profile one.
