Im buying thinkpad z60m and I will get a laptop without windows and even if they install it I want to format my disk and do it my self!
So what do I do, go to dos and type format c: and that I know but then what? I had old PC and I know how to do it there, put start up disc, install cdrom drivers, start up windows instalation and then when it is over install drivers and that is it!

But what with laptop, is it same, what should i do? Can someone explain it step by step?

And someone tell me there is trouble with audio drivers, what about that?

And one more thing, how can I make particion? On win 95 there was a start up disc and you do it all with that but what now, is there something like that and is it on cd' Can laptop even recognize cd rom withot some drivers? Help please!

If you have this model of laptop you can send me your email so we can get in contact so you can help me with my thinkpad, Im new here with laptop so I will need help!

You can put a Windows disc in, and delete and create partitions. Unlike other manufacturers, there is not a lot of bloatware on ThinkPads. There is no need to re-install Windows.

I wouldn't define one program as a lot and wouldn't re-install Windows for one program.

doesn't take more than one crappy program to slow/screw up a computer. symantec AV (norton) does just that.

Its the 50 little programs that don't go away after an uninstall. Symantec is the worst of the worst when it comes to this.

Everything goes away when you uninstall, except some registry entries that don't slow down your comp. Also, Symantec AV, unlike Norton AV, isn't a huge resource hog.
