2 Weeks back I bought T61. The OS on my notebook is Windows Vista Business.
Later on I started conifguring the ThinkVantage utilities available. When I ran Clien Security Solution, I couldn't see the UI for the application hence at first instance I couldn't activate hardware activation, password manager, recovery and other things. Later on I uninstalled the Client Security Solution and installed version 8.0 of CSS from lenovo site. Then I was able to open the CSS and could configure Hardware security, password recovery and other feature. But still my password manager is not working. I have kept the default settings for the password manager and just enabled it.

I don't know how Password Manager will work? Ideally what I want is if I go to any site for the first time which requires authentication then Password Manager should store my credentials after confirmation from me and when I visit the same site next time, Password Manager should fill up the credential for me.

But currently nothing is happening like above on my laptop. Also, sometimes if I open CSS, UI opens and sometimes UI doesn't open.

Pls help me with this problem. My intention is to store all my passwords in the password manager itself so I don't have to remember them.

    Thanks

Thank you very much for your reply. Atlast someone replied though not to my satisfaction.

Can you tell me for which sites I can try?

I'm using IE 7, CSS 8 and Password Manager 2.1.0.

Pls let me know if other information is required

If you do not like Thinkpad's Password manager. RoboForm works great and catches just about everything.

    Kor,
Thanks for your reply. But I don't know anything about the package you mentioned. Whether its freeware or licensing obligation is there is also important.

When Thinkvantage has given this utility then I prefer to make it work and use it. If there is a genuine problem in making Password Manager run on IE 7 and with Windows Vista then I can think of other option but if its a problem of some settings only then I would prefer to find out those settings and fix this problem.

Umm, Firefox can still get spyware...

Its great and all but IE7 is pretty darn awesome now as well. I use both back and forth so I am not sitting in one camp or the other :p

Man, you just arrived to the party. Stop being so demanding.

Has anyone tried Apple's Safari for Windows yet? I think it's kind of overrated.

Johny thanks for your advice. But its not a question of being demanding. I'm in problem and I need the help of fellow members for the same.

I don't know what prompted you to write such comment on my post. You are writing about apple's safari in your reply. It's totally irrelavant to my post. After posting 342 posts on this forum, you should atleast know which msg to post where.

If you can't help it, stop irritating others.

It seems as if your question has already been answered. kor said the ThinkVantage Password Manager does not work with all sites. He suggested Roboform as a superior alternative and others have enlightened you on how to get and use it. You respond by stubbornly proclaiming their responses to not be to your "satisfaction" and insist on using the ThinkVantage utility. I think it's pretty demanding for you to suggest we find non-existent solutions to your problems even when already given a good alternative.

Now if you're going to thank me for my advice, don't claim I'm irritating you, unless you're a masochist.

I also have the same problem. Password Manager was working just fine, and now it simply has stopped working. Will not fill in user name and password, like it did in the past. Cursor just sits there and blinks. Did you ever get a solution, or are we still discussing browsers?

Password Manager has been working fine for me the bit I have used it...remember not all sites code their logins the same and thus it will not pick up everything.

But mine will pickup most vbulletin forums (like notebookreview.com) easily.

A free password storage program that is superior IMO less the fingerprint security is Keepass. It is free, very high security, and can do secure copy and paste to insert passwords into sites.

I recently had this problem and had a very hard time figuring out what was wrong. I think what made this happen was not using the password manager once on loading into IE7. However to fix the problem, go into tools in IE7 and select manage Add-ins->enable and disable Add-ins. Then re-enable the Add-ins for password manager, and then restart your computer. Should take care of the problem.
