Hello,
I bought a T61 for my daughter in the past and she keeps complaining that the screen is too dim. I adjusted the brightness to the max, but it is still, i have to admit, not bright enough.
Any other way to make it look bright so as to avoid to buy another laptop?
Thanks!!!

Also, make sure you go into the BIOS. There is a setting in there that can restrict the brightness levels (especially on battery). Make sure this is turned off.
However, ThinkPads (especially the older models) tend to be on the dim side compared to other brands (they are also matte, so look dimmer even at the same brightness). -
The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
You could also choose a brighter desktop background, staying away from grey colors.

Fire Snake and jonlumpkin,
I will give it a try.
Thanks for the tips and info !!!!!!!!! -
I would try adjusting your color management settings. You can find these settings under the advanced display settings control panel. careful though, its easy to totally mess up your lcd so, before you begin, write down all of your current settings so you can return if needed. Also, google "monitor calibration" and/or "lcd calibration" and do some reading first. There is a lot you can do with brightness, color and gamma controls.

Most of the T61 laptops have not-bright-enough screens, mediocre at best. You best bet is buying another aftermarket screen and replace the one you have right now.
