Hey I am finally coming to Lenovo. My x230 is on its way. I was just wondering if there were any tips from the more experienced Lenovo users on this forum to help smooth the transition and improve functionality. Thank you for your input in advance. :D

I would do a backup using the Rescue and Recovery software that is provided. Normally you'll use 4 discs to do this but I don't think the X230 has such drive to facilitate this so you probably need an external hard drive (with at least 20GB space) that can store the backup data.

You probably want to run System Update just to make sure the latest drivers and applications are installed too but given how new the X230 is at this stage I doubt there will be much to update.

If you don't need 100% battery all the time, setup the power manager to only charge below a threshhold, and then to only charge to 90 - 95% ... This will increase your batteries life. My systems are setup for no charge until battery is below 75% and to only charge to 90%

10x system update and make recovery media.

Also, I'd suggest ditching the stock Norton ware and running the uninstaller tool from the website (NOT THE SAME AS UNINSTALLING FROM THE CONTROL PANEL!) Then get Microsoft Security Essentials, turn on Windows Defender and MalwareBytes.
