    How to get F8 to work to go into Safe Mode

    In my "closed" thread below I asked questions that apparently should never be asked. So I'll answer one of them without asking it again: to open XP in Safe Mode in order to...I mean...just if you want to open XP in Safe Mode, you need to continuously press F8 again and again, from the moment of hitting the On button till it finally takes hold. Hitting F8 once does nothing. I finally, after mashing F8 a million times, was able to launch XP on my T61 in Safe Mode and was then able to...well, read the closed thread to see what I was able to do. :)
