I did a clean install of vista on my T60p, but somehow my SATA mode was set to compatibility from some previous tinkering I did. So now after using it for a while, I realized it and changed it back....now it bluescreens at startup. I'm guessing it is windows detecting too many new components and triggering that antipiracy thingy.
Question is, how to do some kind of work around to avoid having to reinstall?
My copies of Vista and XP are completely legal, for those who wish to go there.

This might work for you it let you enable ahci on vista -
First, switch over to compatibility mode so you can get into Windows, and then grab the Intel Storage Matrix driver from HERE (32-bit version linked) and run the Install.bat script inside the "Prepare" folder. Reboot, switch over to AHCI, boot Windows, and enjoy a bit of a speed boost as well as a distinct lack of BSOD's.

Finally got around to trying these.
Started with the first and it worked great so I didn't get to try UltraCows way, but reputation added to both for all the great help.
How to fix a goofy mistake?
