i just went from access connection uninstalled to the latest version of AC. i noticed that webpages now take much longer to load, sometimes up to minutes...

my pidgin also gets dc'd every few minutes or so. and i dont get some IMs

without uninstalling AC again, is there a way to fix this?

my home network is FIOS and i have the base wireless adapter that came w/ the X200.

Go to 'PowerManager' > Advanced Settings > Wireless

See if it is set to save battery. If it is, change it to maximum performance. I had the same problem :(

    Did this not work?

Just uninstall access connections, it's totally unnecessary for wifi. You'll save on system resources as well as have better wifi performance. Win-win.

If you really want to keep it, then fiddle around with the power settings, or try to go through network and select the network adapter you're using then configure its power settings there. It might be that AC is setting you to be in a different wireless mode than you were before installing, eg b as opposed to g.

Yeah I tried toying with it for a bit and just decided having it off my rig was the better option.

I removed mine too. Opening the program itself took so long and was a resource hog.

For Wifi it doesn't add any functionality that Windows doesn't already have. Some people simply like it because of it's interface and it's profile switching/saving.

For WiMax connections, it does actually have a little better functionality than does Windows Vista, however the number of people who actually use Wimax regularly is rather small.

I have access connections installed as well, but this is my first machine that I have used for multiple wireless connections. Does Intel/Vista have a decent system for locating and connecting to specific wireless connections in the area?

Is it anything like the gui wireless availability of access connections, minus the gui.

    Cheers,
    Josh

Windows Vista has good enough support for WiFi devices, get rid of the bloated software that your computer came with.

    Hi,
I would also like to get rid of Access Connection, but I haven't found a way to use my build-in Wireless WAN-Card (UMTS/3G) without it.

Any suggestions on how to use Wireless WAN without Access Connection would be greatly appreciated!

Though I don't remember exactly how it's done right now, there are some other threads here that have a link to a video showing how it's done without AC in Windows Vista. Unfortunately the search function on the forum seems to have been disabled and I can't look it up.

You could try uninstalling AC and then attempt to setup a new connection through Vista and mess around with the options, because it's definitely possible to do and didn't seem difficult at all either.
