I love my T61 in general. The only thing I have complaint is the flex of the plastic under the right palm.

I constantly use T61 on the road and I have to use the stick mouse a lot. However, I find that if I put my right hand on the palm area a little bit tight, the stick mouse will not work well (for example, screen does not scroll down, not very responsive, etc).

Do you have similar experiences? How do you handle it?

I am thinking about opening the plastic and put some firm padding there. Will it be working?

    Thanks!

The flex is probably due to the gap of space in between the palm rest and the hard drive, which is right under the palm rest. Maybe you are pressing too hard? My T60 flexes only slightly on the right palm rest area.

The LAST thing I'd do is go to shoving a bunch of crap in my case that's going to do absolutely nothing but make it run hotter.

I don't know what you guys consider flex to be. I get a teensy bit of movement in the palm rest- not sure if that's the flex you guys are concerned about.

You mean it is bad even if I put a little padding to support the plastic in the right palm rest area?

    Thanks!

He's exaggerating. Some foam tape couldn't hurt, and one of the forum users has done it before.

Thanks for the info. Use your machine gun to shoot him/her since he/she is exaggerating :)

My right palm rest flexes. It's better described by a gap in between the plastic and the roll cage. I don't have the fingerprint reader. Since there is nothing terribly important under the right palm rest, it might actually be a good idea to put some sort of foam/buffer/padding under it. Thanks for the idea. It would be fairly easy too since I need to remove the palm rest anyway to put in RAM.
