    Hi,

I am an happy owner of a T61p.
I have recently bought an advanced dock, and I'd want to use it to use my digital 5.1 speakers - so I connected the dock to the speakers using an RCA cable. Anyway I cant find any setting to enable digital output.

The OS is XP SP2, and the audio driver version is 5.10.01.5520 (the latest available on the lenovo website).

    Can anybody help me?

    Thanks

Is it possible that nobody is using the spdif output in the dock station?

There's nothing in the audio settings section under the control panel?

I do not own an advanced mini-dock myself but that is where I would say to check, based on my minimal knowledge of those docks.

I use my digital output everyday, but in Vista.

There are two separate playback devices. Make sure you set the digital output as the default driver. You can do this in Sound Settings.

I can't find any digital output setting, nor any additional playback device.

On my previous workstation I remember I had a "digital output" checkbox somewhere in the audio settings. Also the soundmax control panel had this checkbox - in the notebook instead I only have a button to configure/setup the microphone and a checkbox to show an icon in the tray bar.

It looks like the xp version of the soundmax driver is not as complete as the vista version.... this is very disappointing, as this advanced dock is advertised with features which don't work, such as the ability (or inability) to use an additional pci express video card.

I cant upgrade to Vista as I experienced myself it is highly unstable and there are too many not compatible applications (mostly development tools).

I am in the same situation as the OP with the same issues, can't get sound through the S/PDIF. I don't have any other choice under the sound playback menu, only the SoundMax HD Audio.

T61 Windows XP with Advanced Mini Dock.

I've just verified that using Vista I can choose to redirect the output to the SPDIF output - so it's just a problem with the XP driver.

Does anybody know if there is a compatible/3rd party driver allowing digital output?

I'm also having the same problem getting the SPDIF Port working in XP. Have any of you got this working. Or is there anyone else with success?

    Thanks in advance!

Could one of you refer me to what cables you are using?
