Is there a way to disable touchpad once and for all? I alway mistouched it when using trackpoint and it is annoying. By pressing Fn+F8 you can disable temporarily, but when I tried the "device management" it said that I don't have ultraponit device or whatever properly installed. What's wrong with it?

Another problem is that now when I ajust screen brightness or sound volume, it doesn't show on the screen. Guess I must have turn it off some place. Does anyone know where? Thanks

BTW, the computer's a satisfactory experience. The screen's great, LG one.
The thinklight didn't shoot right into my eyes but did little to light the keyboard as well. :D

Go to Lenovo's support website, and find the drivers section. Choose your model, and look for the "Synaptics Touchpad/Pointer Driver" (should be something like that). Install the driver, and then try disabling it.

Another option is to disable it in the bios, so that the touchpad is even disabled when the computer is starting up. To enter bios, F12 on startup.

An ever simpler method is to open the Thinkvantage Productivity Centre, go to device configuration, and mouse settings. From there you can disable the trackpad, or use it to scroll, etc.

I feel like an idiot, but using ff without the scroll key is so inconvenient, so using the scroll on touchpad rocks!

the thing is, that scrolling with the trackpoint is even more convenient than scrolling with the touchpad
