so every time I take the ac adapter off my IBM thinkpad t61 and run it on battery the screen dims but it shows it on full brightness. How do I make it as bright as it is on ac adapter? I hate it because it makes it to dim. Help.

Go into BIOS and set the Brightness setting from Normal to High.

You can do a lot of things with the BIOS. It has features like UltraNav settings, Brightness settings, SATA settings, etc. These settings usually override software settings.
