Each time I start the system. This pop ups up. I want to disable it.

I just got my T61 and still configuring the system.

    Thanks for help!

Can you guys tell me exactly what these are? Isn't Thinkvantage the updating program for auto BIOS and Driver updates from Lenovo. It seems like you would want that. What is Access Connections? Two different things?

Stallen, you are thinking of System Update. Access Connections manages wireless connections. It's an alternative to the built in wifi finder Windows has.

You can uninstall this component separately via the control panel (Add/Remove programs in XP, Uninstall a program in Vista).

Matt, so Access Connections is NOT part of ThinkVantage?

Edit: >>You can uninstall this component separately via the control panel (Add/Remove programs in XP, Uninstall a program in Vista).

Can I restore it later? I dont have any backup or resources CD with me, which did not come with my T61.

OK, I get it. There is...

    "Thinkvantage System Update"...
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVSU-UPDATE#hp
System Update™ helps you reduce the time, effort, and expense required to support and maintain the latest drivers, BIOS, and other applications for Think or Lenovo systems. It enables you to get the latest updates from the Lenovo support site, or to automatically schedule your system to be updated.

    and then there is

    "Thinkvantage Access Connections"....
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=TVAN-ACONN
Access Connections is a connectivity-assistant program for your Lenovo notebook computer. With Access Connections, you can quickly switch network and location specific settings such as printer, proxy, etc. by selecting a location profile.

No, it is part of it, but each part can individually be installed/uninstalled. Yes, you can download it from Lenovo's website if you need it later.

Or...you can just have it not put up the pop up messages, as that is a selectable entry for Access Connections options.

AC is actually quite good. Most people who drop it don't understand its utility.

So is there no way to disable Access Connections without uninstalling it?

I'm just trying to troubleshoot a problem I'm having, and I want to see if disabling AC helps at all.

I want to use whatever comes with Vista Business to manage my WiFi connection, to see if I still have the same problem connecting after waking up from sleep mode.

You can try and remove it from your startup list of programs and also disable its services.

There is one option in the config, it should say "let windows manage the wireless connection" or something like that. It lets you choose between windows and the software, if you use one of them you can't use the other.

Thanks very much, this worked. Seems like it was more straightforward in XP.

My hope is to turn Access Connections back on sometime, but as of right now turning it off seems to be fixing the problem I was having of not being able to reconnect after waking up from sleep.

But even with Access Connections turned on, I was having the wake-up problem only about 30% of the time, so it's too soon to say that disabling it has fixed the problem.

I still think the problem is related to my firewall software (CA Security), because sometimes disabling it would allow me to reconnect.
