I'm about to buy a brand new x1 Carbon on Craiglist but I would like to be sure the item is brand new as the seller claims. Since there's so many refurbished Thinkpads on ebay, is there anyway to check condition ?

    - check for wear on moving parts like the hinges and the rubber feet
    - read the SSD's SMART statistics like power on count and power on hours ( CrystalDiskInfo)

I've ordered refurbs with the clear film on some of them. I couldn't tell if it was refurbed. It should be easy to tell by the packaging and the lenovo seal sticker on the box if it's new of not.
