How to add a camera to a T530

Hi,

I have just bought a T530 for my sister, which is due to arrive soon, but on closer viewing, I realise that it doesn't actually have a webcam. Looking at the pictures of the T530, it seems that the bezel doesn't have the necessary hole for the webcam to see out of. It looks like the space is completely filled in. Are all T530 front bezels the same? Is it possible that it is just some kind of blanking plate in the space where the webcam is behind, which can be removed?

I have been searching online but to no avail. I am not sure if I need to buy a whole new bezel for the T530 + a 720p camera (part number: 04W1364?)+ a viewing window to go in the bezel?

Please could someone advise? I would really appreciate some clarification

My sister is going back to mozambique soon, so I don't have a lot of time to wait for parts to arrive. I am in the UK, and it seems that all the parts I need are only available in the US.

 

I'm not sure about the part numbers, but if you're willing to buy them and do it yourself, it's a doable job. Adding a camera isn't usually minor surgery because you may need a new LCD cable, maybe not, which runs behind the LCD.

If you're pressed for time, perhaps an external camera is worth a look. While not an ideal solution, it's easy and there's little chance you'll break it adding one.

Perhaps someone more learned than I will be along and can give you better information. Good Luck.

 

I think the internal on the t530 will be almost the same as the t520/w520. If so the cabling is all there, as it provides the light on the t520/w520. They just put a piece of black tape over camera connector, you just need to get a camera off eby, and you'll need to remove the lcd bezel and you see a white connector that you can attach the camera to. Now the old bezel will have a completely black trapezoid cover over the camera lens so you can either push it off so the camera can see through the hole or buy a lcd bezel with the clear trapezoid plastic (not needed imo)
