    Afternoon All,

Quick one for you guys & girls - what's the best way to show the hardware breakdown for a ThinkPad T60 2008-CTO at the time of ordering from Lenovo?

I have the serial number as well but just want to see what's the correct steps to do this (all I can see is the warranty checker section, which would allow me to put the model & serial numbers in), as I won't get a chance to physically see the laptop until the weekend plus the seller has a failed HDD in it, so he can't go into Windows to confirm the tech specs himself but also he doesn't have access to a Linux Live DVD/USB Stick.

    Cheers :)

Hardware breakdown, well if you're curious on what parts fitted in your specific T60 then go to this site and type in the model type (2008-CTO) and the serial number.

If you want schematic diagrams of the ThinkPad T60 then you can obtain the Hardware Maintenance Manual for instructions as well as visiting the T60 Service Parts site for component part numbers and such.

Thanks for that - unfortunately the first link you've provided isn't working, as it returns " Could not retrieve parts information", as it's not allowing me to type in 2008-CTO (all I can enter in is 2008).

It's odd as the warranty checker is definitely working, so I'm surprised it's not allowing me to see the hardware breakdown of the laptop - all I'm really trying to confirm is which Intel CPU does it come bundled with (seller believes it's an C2D) and also the screen type as well...never rains but it pours! ;-)

EDIT: Forgot to say I tried this out on both Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers, just in case it was a browser related issue for accessing the data online.

EDIT 2: Very odd...just tried doing the same check on the Lenovo UK Support site and I get the same response for the T60 on there but also I'm getting the same for an X61 that I presently own and also a T61, that my mate owns as well (the latter from me giving him a hand to get the Middleton BIOS installed along with a class N wireless card).

My mistake as I didn't make it clear, the "2008" tag should suffice along with the serial number. You don't need to put the whole line in for the machine type, just the first 4 digits.

No probs but still no joy from my end - tried entering the serial number in as lower case as well but also without the separator as well.

Looks like I'll have to wait until the weekend before I get a chance to have a bash at it - thanks for your help though and I'll keep those pages as bookmarks going forward. :)
