You definitely won't be able to return it, best thing to try to do is sell it back out to craigslist or ebay if you want to recoup your loss.

It doesn't hurt to try. Make the call now and explain your case. Easier if the box is unpoened. Your son didn't want an X61s? One heck of a gift and do you adopt? We will all sign up. lol.

Return is 21 days I believe... I would sell it ASAP (get max money) if you really don't want it.

You wont be able to return it. People that are withing their 21 days play hell trying to return it only to get charged restocking fee. I would just sell it. Maybe someone at your sons school is looking for one.

What is it with the Vaio? Won't last as long. More likely to be in for repairs. Looks cheesy. If it's opened you will have a hard time making a case for a RMA. Talk some sense into the kid. Rejecting expensive gifts when there is 15% at stake. I would punish the guy by taking 15% of his budget for the Vaio. In other words, make him pay the 15% loss toward the Vaio.
