    Hi guys,

I was putting in RAM, and it was my first time putting it in. I was being a little aggressive because it wasn't going in, and well, fail mistake, the retainer clips broke. Stupid me.

Anyone know if/how this can be repaired? And an estimate on the cost?

Also, I have the Base Warranty which expires in September.

the warranty doesn't cover this sort of damage.

There are companies that can change the ram slots, but i never heard of this been repaired.

Another way is to actually get plastic stick and jam it between the magnesium chassis and the broken clip, to prevent the ram falling out. This is probably is cheapest and most direct way of doing it.

    lead_org,

Thanks for the reply. I figured the warranty wouldn't cover that sort of damage. I will try to find a thick piece of plastic that won't fall out when rattled. Thanks for the advice.

On another note, do you have any idea what it would cost to get the motherboard replaced, and thus repairing both RAM slots?

Once you have the stick in place, just to keep it in place with some 3M plastic tapes, to prevent the thing falling off when you move the laptop around.

To be absolutely sure, keep some small folded paper under the touchpad area over the ram slots, to prevent the ram from moving anywhere. This is the cheapest and most secure way of fixing this issue.
